Introduction

Armchair Quarterback Challenge ‘99 is an excellent way for any football fan to get even more involved in the game. AQC ‘99 is the second season of my version of Fantasy Football. The basic concept is that each team owner will draft actual NFL players who will earn points for them by their performance on the field.

New for ‘99:

Some modifications have been made to improve the league and to accommodate new owners:

Draft:

Each owner should list in order of preference the players who he/she would select as his/her 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.. choice at each respective position. About 15-20 players should be ranked by each owner at each starting position. Each starting position will be drafted individually. If you want, you may be present during the draft and alter you draft selections after you know who is available. However, you will not be able to see other owners’ draft lists. Even if you are present, I will still need a draft list from you.

After the starters are drafted, the bench players will be drafted. Players from any position may be drafted in the bench draft. The owners will be contacted individually to draft their bench players. So no bench draft list will be needed. The draft order will be semi-snake form by random order selection. The selection process is complicated, but if you are interested, contact me and I’ll explain it. The date of the draft will be announced later.

Trades, Free Agency, Waivers, Roster Changes:

You may trade players with other owners, drop a player and add a replacement from the Free Agent market (the Free Agent market consists of all players not currently owned by any owner in the AQC ‘99 league and not on waivers), or lay a claim to a player who is on waivers (waivers will be explained in "New for ‘99"). If one of your players gets injured, you may want to drop him and pick up a replacement or put him on your bench. All transactions must be registered with me before the kickoff of the games that the players involved in the transaction will play in. After the kickoff, no transactions can be made with those players until the game is over. To make a transaction, just tell me what you want to do, I will make the transaction for you.

Playoffs:

At the end of the Regular Season, the 2 division champs and the next 4 teams with the best Win-Loss records will advance to the playoffs. Ties in W-L records will be decided by head-to-head record. If that does not determine the team to advance, then division record if they are from the same division, then total points scored, then a coin toss.

The playoffs will be similar to the NFL Conference Championships. The AQC teams will play against each other head-to-head. The team with the most points in each match-up is the winner and will advance to the next round. The looser will be eliminated from the playoffs. Weekly points are not carried over to the next round of the playoffs. Each week’s point totals stands alone.

There will be 3 rounds in the playoffs. The teams will be seeded according to the rankings at the end of the regular season. The division champs will be awarded a bye for the first round of the playoffs. The pairings will be made up so that the highest seeded team will play the lowest seeded team and the remaining game will be between the middle seeds. The highest seeded team in each pairing will have home field advantage. In case of a tie in total points, the home team wins.

Playoff Draft:

AQC Teams that make the playoffs will have the right to retain the players on their team at the end of the regular season who's NFL teams have made the playoffs. Weekly, a supplemental draft will be held to replenish the rosters of the AQC teams still in the playoffs. All players, including the players that were on the AQC teams that are eliminated from the playoffs, will enter the draft. The draft order will be randomly selected with no respect to playoff ranking. It will be done in semi-snake form. The draft picks that each team receives my be used on any roster spot. No draft sheet will be required. Each owner will use each draft pick individually, and should have opportunity to see what the other owners have done with their picks.

The AQC ‘99 Champion

The money winners will be decided at the end of the regular season. However, the playoffs will decide the AQC Champion. The AQC Champion will receive the AQC ‘99 Championship trophy.

League Fees:

League fees are $25 and are due by Sept. 10th, or by special arrangements.

Money Winnings:

Weekly:

Most points scored in that week wins = $5

Season W-L record:

1st place = $85
2nd place = $40
3rd place = $25
4th place = $15

Reporting:

Each week, I will try to give each owner a copy of every teams rosters and the points everyone has earned as well as the league standings.

Fair Play:

No transactions that seem to be intended to build up one team by tearing down another will be allowed. For example, I will not allow an owner who has little chance of winning to give away players to owners who may have a better chance of winning unless other compensation as been made that would make the trade fair. I will decide if the transaction is fair or not. We haven’t had any problem with this, but I want to make sure that we don’t.
