Hi, I am Darlene Patterson, better known as Grandma Darlene. I enjoy collecting TY Beanie Baby's with my grandchildren. We used to go hunting for Beanies together. My grandchildren have grown up, and beanie times have changed, but not this Grandma. Remember when people were crazy about the beanies. It used to be a great adventure trying to find the latest releases. We've spent a few nights camping out to find that newest Beanie. We've rushed long distances and have come back empty handed some of the time, but we always had fun. It was a special time we shared that we will never forget. Right now I have to hunt alone. Summer is still too young. I soon will have a new crew of hunters with Summer, Christian and Joshua David. In the meantime I will collect alone. The older Grands still keep their eyes on our collection. I have promised my beanie collection to all my Grands. That is getting to be a large number.
The bullets(money) I use to hunt these elusive Beanies
does not come easy. The man
who keeps up my bullet supply is my husband, "Papa Bill."
We've been married 48 years and have been blessed with opportunities to travel the world
during 22 years in the U.S. military and even some since. He's always so very patient with
me and my Beanie expeditions.
He's my motivation; he keeps me going. Many
times he orders from Ty store before I know about a new beanie being available.
He reminds me it is time to go to Bill and Nancy's Gift shop to pick up the new
releases. Seems he has more time than I do.
LOL
We are now the proud owners of 500+different Beanie Babies and Buddies. It has been quite a while since I last took inventory. I have a beanie room it is full and running over. I have stopped collecting the buddies no room in the inn! We have the Teenie Beanies even a few attics . I would not take for the fun and excitement we have had with our beanie hobby.
